Albany State’s Jonathan Logsdon earns SIAC Player of the Week honors

ATLANTA — Albany State second baseman Jonathan Logsdon earned the SIAC Baseball Player of the Week award announced by conference staff Tuesday on their website.

Logsdon, a senior from Leesburg, is the Golden Rams’ leadoff batter and leads the team with a .459 batting average. In three games this weekend against Benedict College, Logsdon had 10 hits in 15 at-bats, including a home run, three triples and two doubles. He knocked in 12 runs and scored nine.

“I am really proud of Jonathan,” Albany State head coach Scott Hemmings said. “He has worked extremely hard and is having an unbelievable year. Very few times do you get to coach a player like Logsdon who has it all. He is the same player and the same person every day that he steps on the field. It has been an honor to coach him and I could not be any prouder of him. I look forward to seeing how he finishes off his career.” 

Logsdon and the Golden Rams lead the SIAC with a 25-2 conference record and an overall record of 28-9. They will be on the road this weekend at second-place Savannah State for a three-game series. The next home game will be April 25 against Edward Waters University.
