Teenager charged in assault

  • The suspect was arrested and interviewed at the law enforcement center, according to police reports.

ALBANY — A 16-year-old Albany boy was charged after his 10-year-old cousin told police that he sexually assaulted her Friday, police reports show.

The 16-year-old was arrested and charged with sodomy after the victim, his 10-year-old cousin, told her mother that he had hurt her Friday, according to police reports.

The identity of the suspect was withheld by police because of state privacy laws afforded to juvenile offenders.

The 10-year-old told her mother and police that she was laying in the living room of a home Friday morning on the 1800 block of Seay Court when she decided to get a blanket from another room, police reports show.

When she went to get the blanket from her cousin’s room, the girl told police that he pulled her pants down and sexually assaulted her even after she told him to stop, the report states.

According to the report, the girl told police that the boy told her not to tell anyone but she told her mother anyway later that afternoon.

After speaking with the suspect, police handcuffed him and took him to the law enforcement center where he was interviewed by detectives.
