Maples returning to engineering post

ALBANY — Former Albany director of city engineering Kenneth Bruce Maples, who has served for the past three years as regional and engineering manager for the Stephenson & Palmer firm, was named as the best-qualified candidate for the city engineering position he held from 1993 to 1997.

City Manager Alfred Lott made the announcement late last week.

Before his tenure with Stephenson & Palmer, Maples served as associate vice president of the Keck & Wood engineering firm. He left his position as city engineering director to take a position with Keck & Wood.

Maples received a degree in civil engineering from Georgia Tech and is a Level II Certified Design Professional and Plan Reviewer through the Georgia Soil Water Conservation Commission. He holds a Georgia Professional Engineer’s license.

With the announcement, the city must now wait at least 14 days before taking final action on the position.
