GBI called to investigate death in Lee County

LEESBURG — Authorities are investigating the death of a 47-year-old woman found by her adult daughter Monday morning in their Paloma Drive home.

Janet Murray, 47, was found dead by her 21-year-old daughter after Murray did not shut off her alarm clock around 7 a.m. at her home at 106 Paloma Drive, Lee County Sheriff’s Investigator Lewis Harris said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation had been called in, but Special Agent-in-Charge Danny Jackson said the agency was treating it as a death investigation. There was no sign of forced entry to the home, he said.

Her body will be sent to the State Crime Lab in Atlanta for an autopsy this morning, Harris said.

“Hopefully we’ll have further answers then,” he said.
