ALBANY — Mrs. Daisy Mae Jackson Harris, 97, of Albany, died on Saturday, July 5, 2008 at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany. Funeral arraignments will be announced.

Larry W. Marchbanks

ALBANY — Mr. Larry W. Marchbanks, 62, 361 Flowing Well Rd, Leesburg, died July 5, 2008.

His memorial service will be Tuesday July 8, 2008 2 PM at Kimbrell-Stern with visitation to following the service, Rev. John Edmondson officiating.

A native of Phoenix City, AL, Mr. Marchbanks had lived in Albany most of his life. He was employed with Water Gas and Light as a Senior Projects Manager for 42 years. He was a member of the Albany Bass Club, headed up the Tuesday Night Tournament at Lake Blackshear, was active in the Easter Seals Fishing Tournament and an avid outdoorsman. He was preceded in death by his parents W. E. and Willa Ruth Marchbanks.

Survivors include his son Winn Marchbanks and his wife Cara, Leesburg; daughter Aimee Marchbanks Clower and her husband Darrell, Crystal River, FL; stepsons, Ken Weinder and his wife Sherry, Jesup, Chris McDowell and his wife Nattzu, Carrollton; sisters, Carol Watson and her husband Keith, Marietta, Jackie O’Hearn and her husband Mac, Acworth; grandchildren, Savannah Marchbanks, Shelby Marchbanks, Abigail Clower, Caroline Clower and Karissa Weinder.

ALBANY — Mr. Tony Shipman, 36, of Albany, died on Sunday, July 6, 2008, at Doctors Hospital, Augusta, GA. Funeral arraignments will be announced.

Constance M. Shirley

DAWSON — Miss Constance M. Shirley, 81, of Dawson, died on Friday June 27, 2008 at Palmyra Nursing Home in Albany. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 9, 2008 at Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, Dawson with interment to follow in Sardis Cemetery, Dawson. Rev Willard Weston, Sr. will officiate.

Miss Constance M. Shirley the daughter of the late Dr. Jacob, Sr. and Mrs. Ethel Shirley was born March 17, 1927.

Miss Shirley was a member of Sardis Missionary Baptist Church, in Dawson.

Upon graduation from Albany State College, Miss Shirley moved to New York and studied Theater, Arts, and Music. In later years, she moved to Chicago, IL and became a social worker for the City of Chicago.

On Thursday, June 27, 2008, Miss Constance M. Shirley departed her earthy life for eternity. She will be missed by all who knew her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Georgia Shirley, and Gladys Shirley and three brothers, Dr. Jacob Shirley, Jr., David Shirley, and E.J. Shirley.

Precious memories will always linger in the hearts of her nephews, Charles William ’Bill” Shirley of Washington D.C. and J. L. Shirley, III of Albany; a niece Jeannie Ann Shirley of Chicago, IL; sister-in-law, Mardesque Shirley of Albany; cousin Shirly Ann Reddix of Jackson, MI, and a host of friends.

Rowland E. Willis

ALBANY — Mr. Rowland E. Willis, 82, of Albany died Sunday July 6, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

funeral service will be held Wednesday 2:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with full military honors. Eugene Broome will be officiating.

A native of Tift County, GA Mr. Willis was retired Civil Service from the Marine Corp Logistics Base. He was a WWII veteran in U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. O’Flaherty. He was a member of Triangle Lodge {pound}708 and a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason.

Survivors include his wife Nadine Willis of Albany; three sons Rowland Evan Willis and his wife Patricia of Camarillo, CA; Ralph Dean Willis and his wife Patricia of Decatur, AL; and Jessie Willis of Albany; a daughter Glenda Schreiner and her husband William of Albany; a sister Nancy Willis of Arizona; a brother Ira Willis of Albany; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday (today) from 7:00 to 9:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern.
