Edward Lavern Brown

ALBANY — The graveside service for Edward Lavern Brown, 69, who died Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at his residence, will be conducted Sunday at 3 p.m. in Boneventure Cemetery in Savannah, GA. The Rev. David Norris will officiate.

A native of Abbeville, GA, Mr. Brown had resided in Leesburg since 1968, moving from Albany. He served in the Air Force, was retired from the Marine Base as a welder, and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Leesburg, GA, three brothers, Jackie Brown and his wife Betty of Abbeville, GA, Gene Brown and his wife Patricia of Kathleen, GA and Dan Brown and his wife Debra of Worth County, two sisters, Betty Hansen of Abbeville and Lillian Harrell of Seville, GA, as well as several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.

The family will be at their residence at 147 Cypress Point Circle. Leesburg, GA 31763.

Phoebe Hall Smith

ALBANY — Phoebe Hall Smith of Albany, died Thursday at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The family will received friends, 1 p.m. today July 19, 2008 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors and her funeral service will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Bobby Harrell officiating. The interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens.

A native of Doles GA, Mrs. Smith was a resident of Albany and a long time member of Raleigh White Baptist Church. She was a homemaker that greatly loved her family and them in return. Other great loves of her life were her ”Braves”, her flowers and shopping. She was preceded in death by her husband Vernon H. Smith, Sr.

She is survived by 2 daughters: Beverly Northcutt and her husband Marty, and Lynette Watson and her husband David, all of Leesburg; 2 sons: Vernon Smith Jr. and his wife Debbie of Copperhill TN, and Glenn H. Smith and his wife Ramona of Leesburg; 10 grandchildren: David A Waston III, and his wife Julia, Jennifer Lauck and her husband Matt, Melissa Ward and her husband Chris, Jyl Watson, Vernon Smith III, Rosalind Henderson, Kyle Patrick Smith, Lacey Smith Ragain and her husband Clint, Clay Hall Smith, Tyler Andrew Smith; 10 great grandchildren: Ava & Micah Lauck, Nicholas and Isabella Ward, Vernon Smith IV, Bennett Smith, Matthew & Blake Watson, Catlin & Susanna Henderson; her niece, Laurie Beckham of Albany and her sister-in-law, Nora Hall.
