Bessie Mae Milner

ALBANY — Bessie Mae Milner, 94, of Albany died Saturday, July 19, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Ocilla with the Rev. Noah Phillips officiating. Interment will follow in Brushy Creek Cemetery, Irwin County. The family will receive friends 9:00 AM until the funeral hour.

Mrs. Milner was born June 17, 1914 in Dodge County to the late Sam Holcomb and Mattie Singletary Holcomb Jones. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Albany. She had lived in Albany since 1954 coming from Irwin County. She was a wonderful mother and loved cooking and caring for her family

She is survived by her children and their spouses: Armond E. & Betty Milner of Albany, Jerdine & William Kenneth Webb of Sylvester, Mary E. Jenkins and James F. & Becky Milner of Albany, Marvin & Teresa Milner of Worth County, Mildred & Doug Grace of Evergreen, Alabama, and Howard & Latrelle Milner of Albany; son-in-law: Donald Roberts of Naples, Idaho; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Alma Buchanan of Bonaire; and one brother: Sam Holcomb of Jacksonville, Florida. Several nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her husband Armond Esther Milner; one daughter: Mattie M. Roberts; and three brothers: O’Neal Holcomb, Jack Holcomb, and Elbert Holcomb.

Rosa Margaret Dixon Ross

ALBANY — Mrs. Rosa Margaret (Maggie) Dixon Ross, 60, of Albany died Monday, July 21, 2008 following an illness.

The funeral service will be 10 AM, Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors, with Father Ray Levereault officiating. A Rosary Prayer service will be conducted at 6 PM Tuesday at Kimbrell-Stern with visitation till 8 PM.

A native of Moultrie, Mrs. Ross was a long time resident of Albany, a long time member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, and a widow of The Knights of Columbus. She loved her family greatly and was a lover of people. She was a very thoughtful person, an artist that loved to paint, collecting crafts and creating them especially ”lady bugs”. She was preceded in death by her father: John C. Dixon Jr. and her husband John C. (Johnny) Ross.

She is survived by her daughter: Amy Ross Davis and her husband Tony; her son Hank Ross and his wife Lisa; her mother: Ginny Dixon Heard and her husband Bud, all of Albany; 2 grandsons: Chandler Davis and Jackson Ross; her brother Robert (RD) Dixon and his wife Dorothy of Worth County; 2 step-brothers: Steve Heard and his wife Kay and Sam Heard, both of Albany; 2 sisters: Cindy LaMar and her husband Jerry of Isabella and Ann Lindsey and her husband Jim of Sorrento FL; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and friends and her beloved Tinkerbell”.
