Minnie Laquetta Pafford Cason

ALBANY — Minnie Laquetta Pafford Cason, 74, of Albany, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2008 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 10 a.m. at Morningside United Methodist Church on Mock Road. The Rev. Tom Davis will officiate and interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Antioch United Methodist Church Cemetery in Adel.

Minnie Laquetta Pafford Cason was born on October 1, 1933 in Adel to the late Carlie and Lola Crosby Pafford. Mrs. Cason was a member of Morningside United Methodist Church, where she was currently serving as Sunday School Superintendent. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and spending time with her family and friends.

Her daughter, Lola Darlene Cason and two sisters, Eudora Phillips and Margaret Godwin, preceded Mrs. Cason in death.

Survivors include her devoted husband of 56 years, James Howard Cason of Albany; son, Barry J. Cason and his wife, Jenny of Albany; and two grandchildren, James W. Cason of Cairo and Caleb R. Walls of Albany.

The family will receive friends today (Monday) from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. at Hall and Hall Funeral Home.

Michael Lee McCorvey

ALBANY — Michael Lee ”Mike” McCorvey, 54, of Bogart, GA, died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at St. Mary’s Hospice House in Bogart, GA.

His funeral service will be WEDNESDAY 11 AM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Interment will be at 3 PM at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, GA. The Rev. Dr. William H. Sims will officiate.

Mike was born in Holyoke, MA and his family moved to Albany in 1973. Mike graduated from Summerville High School in Summerville, SC where he was a member of the football team. He was in the construction business and started his own company in 1976. He moved to Bogart in 2007.

Mike is survived by his wife: Nancy B. McCorvey, Bogart, GA; a daughter: Maddie McCorvey, Bogart, his parents: Jack and Daisey McCorvey, Albany; his siblings: James J. McCorvey, Jr. and his wife Karen, Conyers, GA, Jean Rich and her husband Norman, Richmond Hill, GA, Cheryl Griner and her husband Tim, Leesburg, GA; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Tuesday from 7-9 PM.
