Hugh L. Belcher Sr.
ALBANY Hugh L. Belcher, Sr., 72, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at his home in Lee County, GA, after a courageous battle with cancer. The funeral service will be held Tuesday, 11 AM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors. Dr. Ronald Baxley, pastor of Amazing Grace Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Matthew Brown, Brent Belcher, Chandler Arnold, Sidney Askew, Terry Lamb and Billy R. Harding. Honorary escorts will be Ben Adler, Roger Harding, Bob Taylor, Sam Taylor, Jeff Holloway, Richard Farris and the Hoboken Trojanetts Class of 1958 to 1964.
Born March 12, 1936, in Cuthbert, GA, Hugh was the only child of Gladys Lucille Strickland and Joseph Jefferson (Joe) Belcher, both of whom preceded him in death. Hugh attended school in Albany, GA, and graduated from Albany High School in 1954. He attended North Georgia Military College in Dahlonega, and graduated from Georgia Teachers College (now Georgia Southern) in Statesboro. Hugh began his teaching and coaching career in Hoboken, Georgia in 1960. In 1965, he moved to Brooklet, GA, where he worked for the Bulloch County Board of Education as teacher, coach, and administrator until 1978. In 1978, he returned to Albany, GA, where he served as Assistant Principal at Westover High School in Albany, GA from 1978 to 1983. From 1983 to 1990, he was Assistant Prinipal of Albany Middle School in Albany. He retired in 1990, after 32 years of teaching, coaching and administration. He was a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church.
He is survived by the following: Wife of 28 years, Sybil Jones Belcher, His son, Hugh Leslie Belcher, Jr. (Meredith) Baxley, GA, and a daughter, Cassandra Sissy Belcher Brown, Statesboro, GA; two stepsons, Leo S. Arnold, Jr. (Maria) of Cocoa, FL, Michael Arnold (Traci) of Sandy, UT; grandchildren and step- grandchildren: Matthew Brown, Sarah Askew (Sidney), Brent Belcher (Brandi), Langley Belcher, Maralyne Belcher, Jarrod Bohler, Tamara Huffman (Jon), Teryn Arnold, Amanda Arnold, Chandler Arnold, Emily Arnold, Allyson Arnold, and Chris Carey; great-grandchildren, Nataleigh Belcher, Kahne Brown, Caden Brown; and One Aunt, Lois Belle of Albany, GA.

ALBANY Mrs. JoAnn Cannon McClung, 83, 2724 Ledo Rd died, Saturday, August 16, 2008 at her residence.
Her funeral service will be Wednesday 11 a.m. t Byne Memorial Baptist Church with interment in Riverside Cemetery. Dr. William H. Sims officiating.
A native of Dawson, Mrs. McClung graduated from Albany High School in 1941 and from the University of Georgia in 1944 with a degree in Fine Arts, where she studied under Lamar Dodd. She worked at McCollums Photo Shop and was a member of First Baptist Church for 30 years before joining Byne Memorial Baptist Church five years ago. She was preceded in death by her parents Lovick Edward Cannon and Mary Elizabeth Marshall Cannon McCollum and a son Wayne Carroll McClung, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne McClung of Albany; daughter, Linda McClung Appleman and husband Ray, of Albany; grandchildren, Wayne Carroll McClung, III, Clifford Appleman, Jo Ellen Appleman; great-grandchildren, Chad McClung and Dalton McClung.
The family will receive friends Tuesday 5 to 7 p.m. at Kimbrell- Stern.

Martha Neerbasch
ALBANY Martha Neerbasch, 94, of Albany died, Saturday August 16, 2008.
Her funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Monday, (Today) at St. Teresas Catholic Church. The Rev. Finbarr Stanton will officiate. The interment will be at the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, NY.
Mrs. Neerbasch was a longtime resident of Albany, a Red Cross volunteer, and has been a member of St. Teresas Catholic for more than 20 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Neerbasch.
She is survived by two daughters, Jane Oplinger and her husband, David of Cincinnati OH, and Dolores Fenton and her husband, Thomas of Albany; eight grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; and one great- great-grandchild.

Kenneth Andrew Parker
ALBANY Kenneth Andrew Parker, 37, of Albany, died Friday, August 15, 2008, at his residence.
His graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Crown Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Keith Gaines officiating.
A native of Opelika, AL, Mr. Parker had lived in Albany for most of his life. He received several Citizenship Awards when he was younger. Mr. Parker had a great sense of humor and was well liked by many people. He attended Westover High School and Albany Technical College.
He is survived by his mother, Pamelia Parker of Albany; father, David Leon Parker and his wife Jan of Valdosta; sister, Stacey Conyers and her husband Scott of Dawson; stepbrother, Brad Henningfield of Albany; stepsister, Tara Spivey and her husband Jamie of Valdosta; maternal grandmother, Hazel Rogers of Enterprise, AL; aunt, Patti Brydges of Enterprise, AL; uncles, Thomas L. Parker and his wife Mary of Montgomery, AL, and Donald Mark Daye of Troy, AL; niece, Danielle Spivey; nephew, James Spivey; and numerous cousins.

Sara Jett Noland Beck
CAMILLA Sara Jett Noland Beck, 73, died Saturday, August 16, 2008 at her residence in Baconton.
Graveside funeral services will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at Mt. Enon Church Cemetery. The Rev. Jeff Barker will officiate.
Born May 11, 1935 in Madison County, Kentucky, Mrs. Beck was a homemaker and attended Vision Covenant Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Beck; parents, K.D. and Nannie Mae Brock Noland and a brother, James Noland.
Survivors include a daughter, Dianne Renn and husband, Tim of Virginia Beach, VA; a son, Joe Bo Beck and wife, Marcia, of Baconton; sisters, Evelyn Blanton of Valdosta and Katherine Clinker of Newhall, CA; a brother, Clarence Buck Noland of Marion, IL; grandchildren, Ashley Renn, Bill Beck, Amanda Senn and Katie Beck; great- grandchildren, Matthew Senn and Emma Senn.
Visitation will be 6 p.m.-8 p.m. today (Monday) at Parker- Bramlett Funeral Home.

Perry Bridges
BOGART, GA Perry Lynfield (Bam) Bridges, 87, died Saturday, August 9, 2008.
A native and longtime resident of Blakely, GA, he was the son of the late John Oscar and Caroline Ward Blackshear Bridges. He has made his home in Athens since 1997.
Mr. Bridges was a U.S. Army Combat Medic, ETO, World War II, during which he received the Bronze Star with Oak Leaf Cluster. He attended North Georgia College and Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College. Mr. Bridges was a graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received his Bachelor of Science and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega. He received his Masters from Troy State University. Mr. Bridges was employed for many years with the Early County Health Department and retired as District Director of Environmental Services, Georgia Department of Human Resources. In 1980, he was named Sanitation of the Year for the State of Georgia. Following his retirement, he served as Public Relations Director for Early Memorial Hospital and was an active farmer.
Mr. Bridges served in many civic organizations including, Past President of the Blakely Lions Club, Past President of the Blakely Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow, and Past President of the Blakely- Early County Chamber of Commerce. He was a Mason and Shriner.
Mr. Bridges was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Blakely, where he served as Choir Director for several years, taught the Businessmens Bible Study Class for over 25 years and was a Deacon for a number of years and served as Chairman. He later joined Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Blakely, where he was a Lay Reader. After moving to Athens, he became a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Patricia Forrester Bridges; daughter, Patricia Bridges Massey (Sam) of Athens; sons, Col. (Ret.) Perry Lynfield Bridges, Jr. (Terry) of Troy, PA, and Col. (Ret.) Clay Forrester Bridges (Laurence) of Ankara, Turkey; nine grandchildren, Samuel Edwin Massey, Jr., Patricia Lynnfield Massey, James Ross Massey, Margaret Elizabeth Massey, Robert Forrester Bridges, Caroline Ashley Bridges, Taylor Kendall Bridges, Allison Gaynor Bridges and Amy Elizabeth Bridges.
Memorial services will be Sunday, August 24, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. at St. Marys Highland Hills Village.
