Carol Kay Randle Lee
ALBANY Carol Kay Randle Lee, 61, of Albany died Sunday, August 24, following a graceful and courageous 20 month battle against pancreatic cancer.
Born in 1947 to William and Una Valentine Randle, Carol was raised in Fairview Heights, Illinois and graduated from Belleville High School. Carol worked for years for the court system in Albany, including Dougherty County Juvenile Court, Superior Court Dougherty Judicial Circuit and, most recently, as executive administrative assistant to U.S. District Judge W. Louis Sands since 1994.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, she enjoyed reading, trips to the beach and the mountains, laughing until tears ran down her face and spending time with her extended family. A member of Porterfield United Methodist Church, she spent many hours of her life volunteering for various organizations, including U.S. Army Community Services in Butzbach, Germany, the Liberty House in Albany and Theater Albany, where she was involved in numerous productions in various behind the scenes rolls.
She was preceded in death by her father, William Randle, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who have all welcomed her home. Survivors include her husband of 12 years, Terry Lee of Albany, daughters Karen (K.K.) Snyder of Leesburg and Kristine Elizabeth and husband Les Deere of Hendersonville, TN and son David Louis and wife Carrie Ross of Clarksville, TN; step-children Kim and husband Noel Ubiadas of Riverside, CA, Margaux Lee, of Atlanta, Georgia and Livia and husband Kale Suggs of Albany. Grandchildren include Garret and Caitlin Snyder of Leesburg, Ga.; Tyler, Hannah and Alexis Deere of Hendersonville, TN; David, Suella and Jillian Ross of Clarksville, TN; Savannah, Rachel and Lilah Ubiadas of Riverside, CA and Colton Suggs of Albany.
Additional survivors include her mother, Una Randle of Columbia, IL; brother Ned W. (Rita) Randle of Smithton, IL; a nephew, Adam (Joyce) Randle; nieces Allison Randle and Katherine Randle; great niece Audrey Randle and a vast number of faithful friends.
Pallbearers include Federal Court Security Officers Johnny Davis, Walter Mainor, Lee Johnston, Fred Wood, Max Carver and Robert Gervin.
The family will receive visitors at 919 9th Avenue, Albany. Visitation is planned for 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home, Gillionville Rd., Albany, followed by an 11 a.m. Thursday service at Porterfield United Methodist Church, Nancy Scarborough officiating. Internment to immediately follow at Floral Memory Gardens.

Margaret Dyer Smith
ALBANY Mrs. Margaret Dyer Smith, 1205 5th Ave., died Monday August 25, 2008 at her residence.
Her funeral service will be Thursday 2 PM in Haley Chapel at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church with internment in Floral Memory Gardens. Rev. Nathan Godley officiating. Her visitation will be Wednesday 5 to 7 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.
A native of Halls, TN, Mrs. Smith had lived in Albany since 1947. She was an accountant with the Civil Service retiring at the Marine Corps Logistics Base. She was a charter member at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her husband Boyce Smith and a son Ray Smith.
Survivors include her son Ross Smith, Sr. and his wife Peggy of Marietta; grandchildren, Samantha Smith and Ross Smith, Jr.; and a sister Clarene Edwards, Memphis, TN.

Charles Carroll Tomlinson
ALBANY Charles Carroll Tomlinson, 52 of Albany died August 26, 2008 at Palmyra Medical Center.
A memorial service will be Thursday 5:30 PM at Crown Hill Mausoleum Chapel. Rev. Keith Gaines officiating.
Mr. Tomlinson was born in Albany to the late Julian and Beverly Bridges Tomlinson. He was of the Baptist faith and was a well known musician in the Brunswick, GA area where he played guitar and sang. He was an operations manager for a restaurant called Spats which is found in Tennessee and Texas. Charles will always be remembered for his love of animals, especially his sister Kittys Shih Tzu, Precious and his love for flowers and growing ferns. A special request from the family to those attending the service, please dress casual.
Survivors include his sisters, Kitty Fears and her husband Ronald of Albany and June Haynes and her husband Sidney of Albany, brothers, Doug Tomlinson and his wife Linda of Athens and Dennis Tomlinson of Albany and a special nephew, Kem Haynes of San Diego, CA.
The family will receive friends following the service, and will be at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Haynes 1554 Webb St., Albany, GA 31721 and Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Fears, 1215 7th Ave., Albany, GA 31707.
