Candidate appeals his disqualification
Commission?
What was the rationale for overturning the administrative law judges decision
denying the residency challenge brought by my primary election opponent? Why
did the SOSs office not demonstrate the same zeal in ordering removal of
disqualification notices as was employed in ordering their posting in 159
county boards of election? Many voters across Georgia went to the polls on
July 15 thinking votes for me would not count.
The disqualification order was issued on July 10, yet I was never informed.
I found out of the disqualification via an e-mail message on July 13. Why? The
SOS said they didnt have my contact information, but they had my candidacy
application, which contained all my contact information. Plus they had my
campaign Web site address. Their explanation defies logic.
The entire situation has been handled poorly, causing an air of partisan
politics to attach itself, an air that can reduce the efficiency and honesty
of state government. Georgia voters are tired of activities such as this.
At the end of Election Day on July 15, the voters of Georgia said that I was
the right choice electing me in the Democratic Primary with over 85 percent
of votes cast.
The appeal to the secretary of states disqualification will be heard in the
Fulton County Superior Court, Courtroom 8A, on Monday. This hearing is open to
the public.
