Albany State to honor 800 graduates at commencement ceremony

ALBANY — Albany State University will honor more than 800 graduates at the fall 2023 Commencement Ceremony at 10 a.m. on Dec. 9 at the Albany Civic Center. Doors will open at 8:30 a.m., and the processional will begin at 10 a.m.
Rashad Richey, a well-known television, radio, streaming and digital personality, will serve as the commencement speaker.. He is the first political analyst to earn an Emmy nomination at CBS News Atlanta. He is also America’s youngest inductee into the National Black Radio Hall of Fame, where trailblazing leaders like Martin Luther King Jr., Justice Thurgood Marshall, Oprah Winfrey, and Ambassador Andrew Young, are all honored recipients.
Richey is a noted philanthropist and university professor in multiple academic positions, including professor of physics and department chair of Science, Law, and Philosophy at Paris Graduate School in Paris, France; professor of Business at Morris Brown College; director of the Medical Physics program at OcuPrep Medical Institute; and lectures in health equity at Morehouse School of Medicine. He has provided lecture series for the University of Michigan, Mercer University, St. James University and Reinhardt University.
The Fall 2023 Health Sciences Pinning Ceremony will be held Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. at the Student Center, Building C, Room 266 on the ASU West Campus. The Fall 2023 Nursing Pinning Ceremony will be held Dec. 7 at 4 p.m. at the Student Center, Building C, Room 266, on the West Campus. The fall 2023 Professional Embracing Novice (PENning) Ceremony will be held Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. at the Billy C. Black Auditorium on the East Campus.
