It’s been hot enough in metro Albany with the temperatures hitting triple digits the past couple of days. It sure didn’t help to learn earlier this week that Albany leads the state metro areas in the average cost of a gallon of gasoline as well.

There has been much talk of the energy crisis and how to resolve it, yet nothing has been done. Whether at the pump, at the grocery store, in the growers’ fields or on a cooling bill, everyone is feeling the effects of this crisis.

More death penalty choices available
To the Columbus, Ohio, inmate (Page 10A, Tuesday, Albany Herald) who says he’s too fat for lethal injection, I have this to say. Years ago we had ways that did real well, no fat to worry about — electrocution, hanging and firing squad.

Transit center move sensible

In a recent editorial, The Albany Herald reported that many in the public are opposed to moving the Albany Transit transfer station from the current bus terminal that is located at the Greyhound depot. We believe that statement to be somewhat inaccurate since a total of only 14 people attended two heavily advertised public meetings.
