Salty Sandbagger builds relationship with MCLB and Albany business community

ALBANY — Representatives from the Albany Area Chamber of Commerce squared off against representatives from Marine Corps Logistics Base (MCLB) Albany and Marine Corps Logistics Command (LOGCOM) during Thursday’s Salty Sandbagger golf tournament at Doublegate Country Club.
The tournament, held twice each year since the 1970s, is designed as a way to bring business and community leaders together with representatives from Albany’s Marine Base community for some fellowship and friendly competition.
“This is really about relationships,” said Albany Area Chamber of Commerce interim President Barbara Rivera Holmes. “It’s not about winning or losing. It’s about coming out here and having fun and being together.”
“This is always a great opportunity for us to get together and really continue to build our great relationship,” added Maj. Gen. Craig Crenshaw, commanding general, Marine Corps Logistics Command (LOGCOM).
That said both teams promised to play hard in the spirit of competition.
Thursday’s event was the second of the year, and the civilian team retained the cup yet again.
