ALBANY _ Albany native and “American Idol” winner Phillip Phillips will release the much-anticipated follow-up to his platinum selling debut album next month.

Scheduled for release on May 19 on 19 Recordings/Interscope Records, Phillips’ forthcoming “Behind the Light,” featuring the hit single “Raging Fire,” is now available for pre-order. Fans can choose between a deluxe digital version, featuring an instant download of new single “Fly,” or a deluxe physical version.

“Behind the Light” comes just two years after Phillips was named the 2012 “American Idol” after which he released “The World from the Side of the Moon,” which debuted at at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 and has subsequently been certified platinum thanks to the hit singles “Home” and “Gone, Gone, Gone.”

Since winning “American Idol,” Phillips has spent much of his time on the road, honing his skills and working on new music, the fruit of which can be heard on “Behind the Light,” which he is credited with writing.

In addition to the new album release, Phillips will also be appearing on ABC’s “Good Morning America” on May 20 and will kick off a 25-date co-headlining tour with O.A.R. on June 12 at the Fox Theater in St. Louis, Mo.

“Behind the Light” can be pre-ordered through Phillips’ website www.phillipphillips.com.
