Georgia Department of Labor helping to recruit for Oil Dri

THOMASVILLE — Unemployed individuals with experience as a mechanic or electrician might have an employment opportunity coming up in Thomas County.

Georgia Department of Labor (GDOL) officials say they are helping Oil Dri Corporation of Georgia fill a number of jobs at its manufacturing facility in Ochlocknee, about 10 miles northwest of Thomasville in Thomas County.

The company manufactures products from sorbent minerals.

Officials say the recruitment will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the Thomasville Career Center on 403 North Broad St. The company is recruiting maintenance technicians, maintenance mechanics and industrial electricians. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and have at least three years of experience in their field within the last five years.

Prior to the recruitment, applicants may bring a resume or company application to the career center. Before being hired, selected applicants must complete written and hands-on assessments. Starting salaries range from $18.48 an hour for industrial mechanics to $22.53 an hour for industrial electricians, officials say.
