Georgia G-Day game to air on ESPNU

The University of Georgia annual spring football G-Day game will air live on ESPNU at 4 p.m., Saturday, April 16.

Dave Neal will handle the play-by-play duties, former Georgia All-American Matt Stinchcomb will serve as the analyst, and Shannon Spake will be reporting from the sideline.

Deerfield-Windsor tennis teams split at Valwood

The Deerfield-Windsor tennis teams split with Valwood Tuesday afternoon. The DWS boys took a 5-0 victory to improve its season record to 7-3, while the Lady Knights lost to Valwood 4-1.

Brandon O’Brien defeated Valwood’s Karsten Smith at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-1. Deerfield-Windsor earned forfeits at No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

In boys doubles play, Deerfield-Windsor’s No. 1 team of Tyler Lowe and Porter Hill defeated Will Lester and Caleb Vandemark 6-1, 6-0, while Fletcher Cromartie and Bo Williams defeated Valwood’s Preston Persuad and Emory Parramore 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.

In girls play, Valwood’s Olivia Cox defeated Sarah Perrine 6-4, 5-7 (10-8) at No. 1 singles, Hannah Lindsey defeated Deerfield-Windsor’s Stephanie Mathes 6-0, 6-3 at No. 2, while Valwood’s Hope Hathcock defeated Rebekah Thomas 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3.

In doubles action, Deerfield-Windsor’s No. 1 team of Gabby Pinnero and Lilia Sullivan defeated Valwood’s Josie Tidemore and Isabell Langdale 6-0, 6-2. At No. 2 doubles, Valwood’s Georgia Booth and Annie Latbad defeated Deerfield’s Emma Reed and Abby Ellis 7-5, 2-6 (10-8).

The Lady Knights fell to 6-4 on the season.

Both Deerfield-Windsor teams will play host to Southland Academy Thursday at 3 p.m. at Darton State College.

Glover nails hole-in-one at Doublegate

Chris Glover scored a hole-in-one Tuesday at the Doublegate Country Club on the par 3, No. 6 hole. He used an 8-iron. The event was witnessed by Larry Hockman and Phil Clinkscales.

Westwood baseball falls in extra innings at Valwood

Valwood defeated Westwood 4-3 in 12 innings Tuesday night.

Westwood seniors Collier Baggett and Javan Parten combined to strikeout 15-plus Valwood hitters in the loss. Westwood will host Terrell Academy Thursday at 4:30 p.m. in Camilla.
