ALBANY — The Albany Police Department Law Enforcement Center on Washington Street was evacuated briefly Thursday morning as a precaution following a called-in bomb threat.
Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for APD, said the call came in on 911 at 10:48 a.m. As a precaution, personnel were sent from the building while a search for explosive materials was conducted.
Shortly before noon, APD officials gave the all-clear, allowing personnel to return.
“This was a threat; a guy threatened to blow the place up,” said Albany Police Chief Michael Persley. “He didn’t say that there was a bomb inside; no actual package. We do know it came from a local phone number.”
This case remained under investigation Thursday.
