ALBANY — An inmate in the custody of the Dougherty County Police Department escaped from a work detail Wednesday, according to officials.

At approximately 2:45 p.m., the Dougherty County Police Department received a tip that Jerry Dean Tranbarger III had escaped from a work detail. Tranbarger was on loan from the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office, working on a housekeeping detail at DCP headquarters on Habersham Road.

According to officials, Tranbarger left the area. Units from DCP, DCSO and APD were notified, and the inmate was located and placed back into custody at approximately 3:05 p.m.

In another case, Mariah Brown, 20, has been arrested in connection with an incident that occurred last Friday at the Sports Zone on South Slappey in which a fight broke out over a Facebook post. The fight escalated into a car chase during which gunfire was exchanged.

Brown has been charged with four counts of aggravated assault and one count of affray. Brown’s mugshot is currently unavailable.
