MARI WRIGHT: Symphony of Art an incredible success
LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Thanks to the community for supporting the symphony
By Mari Wright
Last Thursday night the Albany Symphony Association held its first major fundraiser for our 2016-17 Concert Season at Doublegate Country Club. “A Symphony of Art” was a wonderful, well-attended event that will help us continue to provide first-class programming for our patrons across Southwest Georgia.
I would personally like to thank everyone who helped make the event an incredible success, including our event Co-Chairs Lisa Davis and Jim LeVaughn, the Albany Junior League, who supplied us with several volunteers, our Board of Directors, the wonderful local artists who gave so generously of their talents, our event sponsors – Renasant Financial and McCleskey Cotton Company—and most of all the community who came out in support of their Albany Symphony Orchestra.
Our latest concert season begins Sunday, October 23rd, with the first event of our Stained Glass series. The Peachtree String Quartet will perform at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Albany. Then our concerts at the Municipal Auditorium kick off in style on Saturday, November 12th when the orchestra will perform George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”
It is the support of the entire community that will enable us to keep the music playing for everyone to enjoy. So, again, thank you to everyone.
Season tickets are still available – they can be purchased online at www.albanysymphony.org, by calling (229) 438-8079 or by stopping at the Albany Symphony office at 308 Flint Ave., which is open Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Once again thank you to all who came out last Thursday to support their Albany Symphony Orchestra!
MARI WRIGHT
