May 8

Cookie Shoppe, 115 N. Jackson St.

Score: 100, Grade: A

Cowboy Bill’s, 4502 Sylvester Road

Score: 100, Grade: A

Guangzhou Chinese Restaurant, 1214 N. Westover Blvd.

Score: 91, Grade: A

Violations: Observed an employee eating in the food prep/storage area that was not designated for this activity. PIC had employee remove the plate. Corrected on-site, new violation. Observed cloths for wiping counters and other surfaces in the facility that were not stored between uses in chemical sanitizer solution. The cloths were removed from the counter. Corrected on-site, repeat violation. Observed utensils near the ware washing area that were directly stacked while wet, so that air drying was not encouraged. Discussed proper stacking methods with PIC. New violation.

Remarks: Discussed having an area designated for employee food consumption; discussed hierarchy of storage; discussed hand sink.

Pruitt Health Palmyra, 1904 Palmyra Road

Score: 91, Grade: A

Violation: Observed raw eggs stored above yogurt and okra. PIC removed eggs and placed them at bottom of shelf. Corrected on-site, new violation.

Taqueria El Guero, 2427 Sylvester Road, Suite G

Score: 90, Grade: A

Violations: Observed shrimp, steak, and chicken being held above 41 degrees Fahrenheit. PIC discarded the food items. New violation. Observed the Dumpster does not contain a side door. PIC will contact the company and have the door replaced. New violation.

Remarks: PIC will have the prep cooler serviced.

The Catch, 2332 Whispering Pines Road

Score: 94, Grade: A

Violations: Observed no temperature measuring device located in the walk-in cooler to measure the ambient air temperature of the equipment. PIC will have a thermometer placed in the walk-in cooler. New violation. Observed employees involved in food handling that were not using disposable, easily cleanable hair nets or other hair restraints. PIC will ensure all employees use hair restraints. New violation.

Remarks: Discussed light bulbs; discussed wiping cloths.

Henry Campbell’s — The Steak House, 629 N. Westover Blvd.

Score: 90, Grade: A

Violations: Observed the hand-washing sink near the front of the kitchen was not supplied with hand-drying provision. PIC placed hand towels at the hand sink. Corrected on-site, new violation. Observed a bottle of degreaser that was stored above food items on a shelf on the dry storage rack. PIC removed the bottle. Corrected on-site, new violation. Observed accumulations of dust on the ceiling and walls in the kitchen. PIC will have walls and ceilings cleaned. New violation. Observed light bulbs that were not shielded, coated or otherwise shatter-resistant in areas where there is exposed food, clean equipment and utensils. PIC has placed an order for the replacement of light shields. Repeat violation.

Remarks: Discussed ice machine; discussed sanitizer; discussed storage of butter for cooking.

Phoebe North, 2000 Palmyra Road

Score: 100, Grade: A

Smoke and Fire, 2317 E. Broad Ave.

Score: 97, Grade: A

Violation: Observed employee not wearing a hairnet. Employee put on a hairnet. Corrected on-site, new violation.

Starbucks/Target, 2721 Dawson Road

Score: 95, Grade: A

Violations: Observed the hand sink in the front food service area was not supplied with hand-cleaning liquid, powder or bar soap. PIC will have the cleanser replaced at the hand sink. New violation. Observed single-use articles, cups and lids that were not stored at least 6 inches above the floor. PIC moved the items to 6 inches off the floor. Corrected on-site, new violation.

Remarks: Discussed wiping cloth sanitizer; discussed posting CFSM certificate in the food service area.

El Vaquero,2700 Dawson Road, Suite 20

Score: 92, Grade: A

Violations: Observed employee in the food prep areas with a drink that was not in a single-service cup secured with a tightly fitting lid and straw. PIC had employee remove the drink. Corrected on-site, new violation. Observed cloths for wiping counters and other surfaces in the establishment that were not stored in chemical sanitizer solution between uses. PIC stored wiping cloth in sanitizer. Corrected on-site. repeat violation.

Remarks: Discussed personal food storage; discussed period checks on food temperatures.

Miller Brewing Cafe’, 405 Cordele Road

Score: 100, Grade: A

The Mayberry Diner, 2349 Lake Park Drive

Score: 93, Grade: A

Violations: Observed no written procedure to educate employees on how to respond to vomit/fecal incidents onto surfaces in the facility. Gave PIC another copy of the vomit/fecal incident cleanup procedure. Corrected on-site, new violation. Observed cloths for wiping counters and other surfaces in the facility that were not stored in chemical sanitizer solution between uses. PIC removed the cloths from the counter. Corrected on-site, new violation.

Remarks: Discussed covering food; discussed date marking; reminded PIC that CFSM certification expires soon.

Tropical Taste Restaurant, 231 E. Oglethorpe Blvd.

Score: 94, Grade: A

Violations: Observed accumulation of dust on the fume hood. PIC will have the fume hood cleaned. Repeat violation.

Albany Auto Auction, 1421 S.E. Liberty Expressway

Score: 100, Grade: A

China Garden, 2228 N. Slappey Blvd.

Score: 81, Grade: B

Violations: Observed raw chicken stored above raw shrimp and eggs in walk-in cooler. PIC properly separated the raw chicken from the shrimp and eggs. Corrected on-site, repeat violation. Observed open bags of rice exposed and seasonings at wok station not covered. PIC covered items at wok station and closed bags of rice. Corrected on-site, new violation. Observed mop sink not accessible. PIC will remove items from mop sink. New violation. Observed non-essential items and materials stored on the premises. Discussed removal of items. Repeat violation. Observed cardboard in walk-in cooler; PIC removed cardboard from cooler. Corrected on-site, repeat violation.

Club Parisians, 1900 Liberty Expressway

Score: 91, Grade: A

Violations: Observed no employee health policy available. PIC was provided with a copy. Repeat violation. Observed no soap at the hand washing sink behind the bar. PIC will place soap at the sink. Repeat violation. Observed no vomiting/clean up procedure available. PIC was given a copy of the procedure. Repeat violation. Observed no hot and cold water at the three-compartment sink behind the bar. PIC will have the sink repaired. New violation. Observed no tissue available in the men’s and women’s restrooms. PIC will place tissue in the restrooms. New violation.

Remarks: Discussed proper storage of raw meats in order based on internal cooking temperatures; discussed the requirement to have a person in charge present for all shifts in the establishment.

Violations: No disposable towels available at hand sink in restrooms (dispenser empty). Person in charge corrected violation by refilling dispenser with paper towels by end of inspection. Corrected on-site, new violation. No hand wash signage posted at hand sinks in restrooms. New violation. Correct by May 11.

Remarks: Discussed requirement for providing hand towels at all hand sinks; discussed display of current inspection report; discussed requirement for hand wash signage in restrooms; discussed defrosting freezer and cleaning floors; discussed repair/replace missing and damaged floor tiles.

Violations: No thermometer provided inside undercounter refrigerator. Manager corrected violation by placing a thermometer in refrigerator during inspection. Corrected on-site, new violation. Manager corrected violation by moving single service items to another location. Corrected on-site, new violation.
