Canada and Costa Rica played to a 1-1 draw Tuesday at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, leaving them tied for first place in the CONCACAF Gold Cup’s Group A.

Alphonso Davies opened the scoring for Canada in the 26th minute, and Costa Rica’s Francisco Calvo responded in the 42nd minute.

Both teams are 1-0-1 heading into their final group game. On Friday, Costa Rica will play French Guiana, and Canada will meet Honduras, with both games in Frisco, Texas.

Davies, running onto a pass delivered across the box from Scott Arfield, slotted a shot above Costa Rica goalie Patrick Pemberton.

For the equalizer, David Guzman delivered an outswinging corner kick, and Calvo headed the ball home.

French Guiana and Honduras, both 0-1-0, were set to meet later Tuesday night in the second game of the doubleheader at Houston.
