Journeys re-opens at Albany Mall; Journeys Kidz coming

ALBANY — Officials with the Albany Mall will get a “two-fer” deal with the weekend re-opening of the teen retail specialty outlet Journeys.

Founded in 1986, Journeys has been a teen retailer of choice in the 30 years since. Journeys uses fashion savvy and merchandising science to keep in step with the fast-paced footwear and accessories market for its 13- to 22-year-old customer base. Journeys offers a wide variety of trendy, relevant brands such as Vans, Converse, TOMS, Sperry, UGG, DC, adidas, New Balance and Polo.

Journeys currently has more than 800 locations in all 50 states, Puerto Rico and Canada. Accessories such as novelty T-shirts, backpacks, socks, laces and more are also available at the retailer.

With the Journeys outlet re-opening Friday, Albany Mall officials also announced that Journeys Kidz, a division of Journeys, will open a retail store nearby on Aug. 6.

Journeys Kidz launched in 2001 as an extension of the successful Journeys footwear retailer. Journeys Kidz is a multichannel retailer that targets customers ages 5-12 years old. The store carries trendy and aspirational footwear that the “big kids” wear in “little kids” sizes.

With nearly 250 locations across the United States and in Puerto Rico, Journeys Kidz carries many of the same brands and accessories as Journeys. Whether it’s the skateboard-style footwear display or the TVs playing cartoons and music, Journeys Kidz has a visually exciting atmosphere that is both fun for kids and functional for parents.

The new Journeys location in the Albany Mall is next to Reeds Jewelers in the Old Navy wing of the retail center. The new store is celebrating its grand opening throughout the weekend. The location previously vacated by the Journeys outlet is under construction, making way for the new Journeys Kidz store.
