One of the most prolific track and field athletes to come out of Albany will join some of the state’s top athletes in the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame come February.

Angelo Taylor, who competed in four Olympics and won three gold medals as a hurdler and relay team member, was named alongside seven other athletes in the Hall’s 2018 induction class, the organization announced Friday.

Taylor claimed gold in the 400-meter hurdles in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. He then won gold in the 400 hurdles and the 4×400-meter relay in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

He also was on the 2004 Athens and 2012 London teams, serving as captain of the 2012 team.

Joining Taylor in the 2018 class is Atlanta Falcons owner Arthur Blank, ex-University of Georgia and NFL veteran Champ Bailey, original Atlanta Falcons and Atlanta Flames owner Tom Cousins, UGA men’s golf head coach Chris Haack, women’s golf pioneer Terry Moody Hancock, Atlanta high school football product Tracy Rocker and Crawford County basketball product Kenny “Sky” Walker.

The induction weekend will take place Feb. 23-24 in Macon.
