Southland

at Deerfield-Windsor

Time: 7 p.m., Friday (Homecoming).

Records: Southland 7-0, 1-0 GISA Region 3-3A; Deerfield-Windsor 3-3, 0-0.

Last week: Southland beat Tiftarea 24-0; Bessemer Academy (Alabama) beat Deerfield-Windsor 20-7.

Series history: Deerfield-Windsor leads 27-21-2.

Last meeting: Deerfield-Windsor won 34-21 in 2016.

Notes: Deerfield-Windsor has won 10 straight games in the series and 12 of the past 13 contests between the schools … Southland, coached by former Deerfield-Windsor defensive coordinator Rod Murray, is off to its best start since going unbeaten in 1991 … Deerfield-Windsor regains quarterback Jack Kimbrel, who missed parts of the past three games with an ankle injury.

Hardaway

at Westover

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Hardaway 2-3, 1-1 GHSA Region 1-4A; Westover 2-3, 0-2.

Last week: Hardaway beat Columbus 41-14; Carver-Columbus beat Westover 20-0.

Series history: Hardaway leads 2-1.

Last meeting: Westover won 35-7 in 2016.

Notes: With Cairo and Northside-Columbus still on the schedule, it’s not quite do-or-die time for Westover’s playoff hopes, but a loss to Hardaway would make the road to the postseason much more difficult … Westover has yet to score region play, while Hardaway scored 41 in a win last week over Columbus after losing 9-7 at Cairo … Hardaway’s Marco Lee has run for 772 yards and five touchdowns.

Lee County

at Houston County

Time/site: 7:30 p.m., Friday/Freedom Field.

Records: Lee County 6-0; Houston County 2-4.

Last week: Lee County beat Thomas County Central 49-0; Houston County beat Spalding 27-7.

Series history: Lee County leads 3-0.

Last meeting: Lee County won 55-29 in 2016.

Notes: GHSA Region 1-6A play opens for Lee County, the top-ranked team in the Georgia Sports Writers Association Class 6A poll … Houston County is removed from the Jake Fromm era, with his younger brothers transferring to Warner Robins and head coach Von Lassiter moving to his alma mater, Bleckley County … Now led by Ryan Crawford, HOCO has taken its licks, suffering lopsided losses to Jones County and Peach County to start the season, but the Bears have wins in two of their past three games … Lee County quarterback Jase Orndorff surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the season in last week’s win at Thomas County Central, finishing non-region play at 1,013 yards (76-of-117, nine touchdowns, one interception).

Monroe

at Berrien

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Monroe 1-3; Berrien 3-2.

Last week: Brooks County beat Monroe 49-0; Berrien beat Early County 34-14.

Series history: First meeting

Notes: This game was added to the schedule following the closure of Albany High … Monroe’s season includes losses to two ranked teams in GHSA Class 2A, Thomasville and Brooks County … Berrien squeezed past Dougherty 14-7 on Sept. 1 in Albany … Both teams have big games next week, with Monroe facing rival Dougherty and Berrien hosting Thomasville.

Worth County

at Harris County

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Worth County 0-5; Harris County 2-3.

Last week: Worth County off; Callaway beat Harris County 28-27.

Series history: Worth County leads 1-0.

Last meeting: Worth County won 48-28 in 2016.

Notes: Worth County had a much-needed week off last week following an 0-5 start that included a 76-20 setback to Thomasville two weeks ago … The silver lining for Worth County is that it plays in a region where only one team, Crisp County, has more than one win at this point … Harris County junior Cal’von Harris has run for 928 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Mitchell County

at Randolph-Clay

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Mitchell County 4-1, 4-0 GHSA Region 1-1A; Randolph-Clay 2-2, 2-1.

Last week: Mitchell County beat Terrell County 47-0; Seminole County beat Randolph-Clay 53-26.

Series history: Mitchell County leads 25-6.

Last meeting: Randolph-Clay won 28-22 on Oct. 1, 2016; Mitchell County won 46-14 on Nov. 11, 2016, in the first round of the GHSA Class 1A public school playoffs.

Notes: Some real separation can take place in Region 1-1A this week, as wins by Mitchell County and Pelham would essentially turn the race for the region title into a three-team affair between the Eagles, Hornets and Seminole County … Mitchell County quarterback James Thomas has upped his all-purpose yardage total to 1,299, with 687 of those yards coming on the ground … Thomas has run for 11 touchdowns and has thrown for four more.

Chattahoochee County

at Pelham

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Chattahoochee County 2-2, 2-1 GHSA Region 1-1A; Pelham 4-1, 4-0.

Last week: Chattahoochee County off; Pelham beat Miller County 42-38.

Series history: Pelham leads 1-0.

Last meeting: Pelham won 25-8 in 2016.

Notes: Pelham closes the regular season against Mitchell County, and the Region 1-1A title will be decided by that game should both teams win out to that point … Pelham’s Kendrick Patterson has thrown for 901 yards and 13 touchdowns.

Calhoun County

at Miller County

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Calhoun County 1-3, 1-2 GHSA Region 1-1A; Miller County 2-2, 2-2.

Last week: Calhoun County beat Stewart County 27-0; Pelham beat Miller County 42-38.

Series history: Miller County leads 32-9-1.

Last meeting: Miller County won 35-0 in 2016.

Terrell County

at Baconton Charter

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Terrell County 0-5, 0-4 GHSA Region 1-1A; Baconton Charter 1-3, 0-3

Last week: Mitchell County beat Terrell County 47-0; Baconton Charter off.

Series history: Terrell County leads 3-0.

Last meeting: Terrell County won 40-16 in 2016.

Cross Keys

at Pataula Charter

Time: 7 p.m., Friday.

Records: Cross Keys 0-1; Pataula Charter 0-4.

Series history: Tied 1-1.

Last meeting: Cross Keys won 21-16 on Sept. 30, 2016; Pataula Charter won 34-14 on Oct. 28, 2016.

Bethlehem Temple

at Terrell Academy

Time: 7:30 p.m., Friday.

Records: Bethlehem Temple 5-2; Terrell Academy 3-4.

Last week: Bethlehem Temple beat Dominion Christian 62-0; Terrell Academy beat Flint River 28-0.

Series history: Terrell Academy leads 1-0.

Last meeting: Terrell Academy won 24-8 in 2016.

Creekside

at Sherwood Christian
