Cardinals place QB Palmer on injured reserve

Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer was placed on injured reserve Thursday.
Palmer is expected to miss eight weeks with a broken left arm sustained in Sunday’s 33-0 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
Arizona (3-4) will have the option of bringing back Palmer should the club remain in contention. The 37-year-old is eligible to return for a Week 16 matchup with the New York Giants.
Drew Stanton will assume the team’s starting quarterback duties while Blaine Gabbert will serve as his backup.
Palmer was injured on an interception in the second quarter after taking a hit from Rams linebacker Alec Ogletree just after releasing the ball. The pass was intercepted by safety Lamarcus Joyner.
Palmer threw for 1,856 yards with nine touchdowns and six interceptions in six games this season for Arizona, which has a bye this week before facing the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday.
