ALBANY – Four Albany firefighters were taken to the hospital on Friday after a fire truck overturned, but their injuries were not thought to be serious.

The Albany Fire Department personnel were transported by Dougherty County Emergency Services from the scene of the accident that occurred Friday afternoon on West Oglethorpe Boulevard about two blocks east of South Slappey Boulevard.

“There are no severe injuries,” Albany Public Information Officer Krista Monk said. “They are OK. They are alert and communicating. They are getting checked out to be on the safe side.”

There was no information immediately available about where the fire truck was heading at the time or how the accident occurred, she said.
