Colorado State head football coach Mike Bobo has been hospitalized and is undergoing medical tests after experiencing numbness in his feet, the school announced Monday.

“I recently began to experience numbness in my feet,” Bobo said in a statement. “After our second scrimmage on Saturday night it was determined by doctors that I should be admitted to the hospital to undergo further testing. I feel very encouraged by the test results to this point and hope to have some answers soon. I also feel very encouraged about our 2018 CSU Football team. My family and I appreciate all of the great care and support we are receiving.”

Bobo, 44, is entering his fourth season as the Rams’ head coach, having gone 21-18 and earned three bowl appearances in as many years.

The team has not announced an interim replacement for Bobo, who also calls plays on offense. The Rams open the season Aug. 25 against Hawaii.

Bobo played quarterback at Georgia from 1993-97 and joined the Bulldogs as quarterbacks coach in 2001. He stayed on the staff through 2014, including the final eight years as offensive coordinator, before taking the head job at CSU.

“I want to express my care and concern for Mike Bobo and his family at this time,” athletic director Joe Parker said in a statement. “Our first priority is to focus on Mike’s health and well-being, and to support that process in every way we can. I share Mike’s confidence that we have tremendous leadership in our football program, and that the coaching staff will continue to successfully guide the team through practices and meetings while he is away.”

Ronnie Letson is the team’s assistant head coach/quarterbacks, and Dave Johnson is the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach.
