Hot-shooting Rams beat Benedict

COLUMBIA, South Carolina – The Albany State Golden Rams hit nearly 60% of their shots int he second half of Saturday’s game with the Benedict College Tigers and left Columbus with a 75-67 win over their SIAC East rivals.

Steady shooting throughout the contest led ASU to a victory and further cemented their spot at second place in the SIAC East Division.

As a team, the Golden Rams shot 52 percent from the field, including going 59 percent in the second half to close out the game.

Albany State (11-14, 10-5) sported a pair of 20-point scorers. Jared Harrington led the way with 21 points while Tyrell Williams finished with 20 points and nine rebounds.

Randy McClure registered a double-double in the win, scoring 11 points and pulling in 13 rebounds.

DeShawn Graham led Benedict (4-19, 3-11) with 19 points.

ASU continues their road swing on Monday, February 11th, when they travel to Augusta to take on Paine College. The Golden Rams won the first contest between the two teams this season, 82-75. Tip-off is set for 7:30 pm.
