ALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State and Georgia have agreed to a home-and-home series to be held Sept. 4, 2027, in Tallahassee and Sept. 16, 2028, in Athens, it was announced Tuesday.

“We are excited to announce this series and showcase our commitment to providing games in Doak Campbell Stadium that will be attractive for our fans,” interim director of athletics David Coburn said. “Our non-conference schedule is among the strongest in the country with an annual game against Florida in addition to regular matchups with Notre Dame, and this series with Georgia fits the criteria for how we want to build future schedules. I also want to thank Coach Taggart for his commitment to facing high-quality opponents that will excite fans and continue to strengthen Florida State’s place among the preeminent programs in the country.”

The 2027 season opener in Tallahassee will be the first regular-season meeting between the two teams since Oct. 16, 1965, when the Seminoles defeated Georgia 10-3. Florida State and Georgia have identical 2-2 records in head-to-head matchups in both Tallahassee and Athens. The two teams faced each other nine times from 1954-65, with the Bulldogs winning the first five and the Seminoles responding with a four-game winning streak. The teams met again in the 1984 Citrus Bowl, a 17-17 tie, and the 2003 Sugar Bowl won by Georgia.

“This is a series with history dating back to the early years of FSU football, and I’m glad we are resuming it,” head coach Willie Taggart said. “These two games will be great for fans of both programs, especially those interested in traveling to experience the atmosphere here in Tallahassee or in Athens, and will give us another opportunity to play in front of our large group of alumni in the state of Georgia.”

The Bulldogs announced in November a home-and-home series with Clemson in 2029 and 2030. The two schools have also agreed to a second home-and-home series in 2032 and 2033. Clemson will play in Athens on Sept. 4, 2032, and the Bulldogs will travel to Clemson on Sept. 3, 2033.

Previously announced are home-and-home series with Texas (2028 and 2029) and UCLA (2025 and 2026). Georgia will travel to Austin to take on the Longhorns on Sept. 2, 2028, and will host Texas on September 1, 2029. The original Clemson series has the Bulldogs playing at Clemson on September 15, 2029, and the Tigers will come to Athens on Aug. 31, 2030. The schedule will result in Georgia playing both FSU and Texas in 2028, and both Clemson and Texas in 2029.

Georgia will play the Bruins at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., on Aug. 30 to open up the 2025 season and the return game in Athens the next year at Sanford Stadium will be on Sept. 5.
