BACONTON – For the first time in their history, the Baconton Charter Blazers will play all of their home games in their new stadium. In head coach Jermaine King’s second year, the Blazers are young but focused on building a competitive team that can challenge in Region 1-A.
“Our biggest challenge this year is getting our younger players ready to compete,” King said. “We are a young team, and a few of our freshmen are going to have to step up as starters.”
King believes one of the team’s strengths is an experienced coaching staff. Carter Richardson, Greg Ross, J.R. Jones, Marc Logue and Pete Corker are all on board to help the young Blazers prepare for the season.
Key players on offense will be Grayson White and Lee Worsham, while the defense will be led by Logan Hurst, Caleb Etheredge and Karsen Harrell.
The Blazers have a 10-game schedule that includes four home games, starting with the season opener against Montgomery County on Friday night. Kickoff at Blazer Field is set for 7:30 p.m.
