ALBANY — For the second time this year, one of the city of Albany’s long-term employees is pulling up stakes and heading north.
Phyllis Whitley-Banks, who has served as a spokesperson for the Albany Police Department and the city for 12 years, announced in a short message to area media that she is leaving Albany to pursue an opportunity in Atlanta. Her last day with the city will be Wednesday.
Monique Knight announced in May that she too was leaving to pursue an opportunity in the state’s capital city.
Banks said, in a brief statement, “After 12 years with the city of Albany, I am relocating to pursue an opportunity in Atlanta. My last official day is Wednesday. Please begin directing all media requests, correspondence, questions, and/or concerns regarding the Public Information Office to Imani Bennett-Zachery (229.302.1341), or email the [email protected].”
Banks worked as a television reporter for an Albany TV station before taking a position with APD.
