ALBANY — The Alice Coachman High School Invitational at Monroe Saturday brought lots of competition to the track and national champion Marianna Wright was one of the competitors.

Wright, a freshman at Monroe, won the national championship in the 400-meter hurdles last year.

In Saturday’s Alice Coachmen event, Wright won the 300-meter hurdles and the 400-meter hurdles, as well as running for a first-place 800 relay. In the 300 hurdles, her time was 44.65 seconds, and in the 400 it was 56.18 seconds.

She was joined on the winning relay by Jordyn Johnson, Eve Kraig and Kaitlyn Williams.

Monroe’s boys won the 800 relay in 1:32.62, while the Monroe girls won two relays — the 800 (1:44.56) and the 1,600 (4:08.33). The Tornadoes’ Lacorria Gervin was first in the shot put with a throw of 34 feet, 9 inches.

Lee County’s Tim Ellis won the boys 3,200 in 10:42.08, and Lee’s Jordyn Perkins won the 100 in 12.40.
