Veteran center Kia Vaughn signs with Atlanta Dream

The Atlanta Dream acquired veteran center Kia Vaughn from the Phoenix Mercury in exchange for a 2023 third round Draft pick, the organization announced Monday.

Vaughn enters her 13th season in the league in 2021, averaging 6.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists per game in 357 career regular season games.

Originally the eighth overall pick of the 2009 WNBA Draft by the New York Liberty, Vaughn has seen stints with Phoenix (2020-21), New York (2009-12, 2017-18) and Washington (2013-16) and her teams have qualified for the playoffs in nine of those 12 years. She helped the Mercury reach the WNBA Finals in 2021, averaging 2.9 points and 2.2 rebounds in 11 games.

The Atlanta Dream will tip off their milestone 15th season in the WNBA in May 2022. The team currently plays home games at the Gateway Center Arena @ College Park.
