Cumberland Island National Seashore plans yearlong 50th anniversary celebration

ST. MARYS — Cumberland Island National Seashore turns 50 on Oct. 23, and to commemorate this significant milestone, the park will host a yearlong series of events.

The celebration kicked off Oct. 1 with a daylong festival.

The celebration will continue throughout the year with various events, including a speaker series, a special Plum Orchard holiday tour, and new on-island interpretive programming. The public is invited to take part throughout the year as Cumberland Island National Seashore commemorates 50 years of conservation.
