Ex-DWS soccer star, Herald POY Mitchell named Player of Week in Peach Belt Conference

Armstrong Atlantic senior, former DWS star and Herald Player of the Year in 2007, Tracey Mitchell of Albany, was named the Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday after Mitchell — a goalie — gave up no goals in 128 minutes of action in two Lady Pirate shutouts last week and extended her scoreless streak to more than 306 minutes with no goals allowed since Sept. 18 — a span of five matches.

She played 60 minutes and made two saves in a win against USC-Aiken and 66 more against Montevallo. She was not in goal when UM scored with less than six minutes to play. Mitchell is currently fourth in the PBC with a 0.49 GAA and leads a defense that has four shutouts on the year, tied for third in the league.

Mitchell is the the first Goalkeeper of the Week honoree for AASU soccer since the league started weekly keeper honors in 2008.
