MONTICELLO — The Terrell Academy Eagles won the opening game of a three game series with Piedmont Academy on Friday afternoon, but lost in the second game Saturday. The two teams started the third game, but it was delayed by the weather in the bottom of the first inning.

In Game 1 on Friday, Que Wright belted a home run in the seventh inning to give the Eagles a 2-1 win. Wright also knocked in the first run for the Eagles in the fourth inning to tie the game at 1-1.

Senior Daniel Myers recorded the win on the mound for the Eagles. He pitched six innings, allowing one earned run on five hits. He struck out six batters. Garrett Sloan came on in relief in the seventh inning, getting the three outs in the bottom of the seventh to record the save.

Piedmont jumped on the Eagles early in the second game with five first inning runs and the Terrell Academy was never able to come all the way back. The Cougars took advantage of a Terrell error and added three singles in the first and a home run by Rob Allgood in the second. In the third inning, the Cougars added four more runs and built a 10-0 lead. Will Denham took over on the mound for the Eagles in the third inning, relieving Cameron Jones.

The Eagles put two runs on the board in the fifth inning, then got RBI singles from Wright, Jay Murdock and Ross West to put four more on the board.

Denham and Landon Cory both doubled in the game for the Eagles and Jones had two hits to lead Terrell.

The Cougars piled up a total of 15 hits in the game.
