LAKE CITY, Fla — A Georgia teen attending football camp in north Florida has died following a morning a practice.

Columbia County authorities say 16-year-old Don’terio J. Searcy was found unresponsive in his cabin late Tuesday morning. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where attempts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

The junior defensive lineman was at the Florida Bible Camp near O’Leno State Park with the Fitzgerald High School football team. Grief counselors were sent to the camp to help Searcy’s teammates cope. Detectives are investigating the death, but no foul play is suspected. The sheriff’s office says an autopsy will be performed to determine a cause of death.

The team arrived at the camp Friday. They had intended to return to Fitzgerald, which is located in southern Georgia, either Tuesday night or Wednesday morning.
