MACON — The Albany State Golden Rams opened the SIAC baseball tournament with a dominant 7-1 win over Miles College on Thursday evening at Luther Williams Field.

The game stayed quiet through the first two innings. But in the bottom of the third, the Golden Rams came alive.

With the bases loaded and one out, Austin Roberts drew a walk to bring in the first run. Luke Addison followed with a sharp line drive to center, making it 2-0. Then Trenten Justice broke it open — a three-run double to left that cleared the bases and gave Albany State a commanding 5-0 lead.

In the fifth, the Rams struck again. Tyler Turner drew a two-out walk. Nate Saavedra ripped a double to left, putting runners at second and third. Xander Little was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Emory Stephens stepped up and delivered a two-run single to left.

Gercal Reyes earned the win on the mound. He pitched five innings, allowing just two runs on six hits. He struck out four and walked one.

Next up for Albany State is a second-round matchup against top-seeded Spring Hill College. First pitch is set for 3 p.m. Friday in Macon.
