CAMILLA — For weeks, Terrell Academy Eagles had shown flashes.

A good inning here. A solid pitching performance there.

Just never all at once.

Monday afternoon, it finally came together.

Behind strong pitching, clean defense and timely hitting, the Eagles turned in one of their most complete performances of the season, shutting out the Westwood Wildcats 7-0.

The win moves Terrell Academy to 7-15 on the season and snapped a stretch in which the Eagles had dropped 11 of their previous 12 games.

“We pitched it well and played really good defense for seven innings,” said head coach Ashley Walker. “We finally played a complete game, and good things happen when you execute for seven innings.”

The difference showed up early — and never really left.

Terrell Academy scratched across a run in the first inning, then broke the game open in the second. James Harrell sparked the rally with a solo home run to left, while Bo Holland followed with an RBI double and later scored to stretch the lead to 4-0.

The Eagles kept pushing in the third.

Holland delivered again with another RBI double, and Garrison Lorber followed with a run-scoring single to extend the advantage to 6-0 — more than enough breathing room for a pitching staff that never let Westwood settle in.

Lorber was in control from the start, working six scoreless innings while allowing just two hits and striking out nine. Jake Chavers closed it out with a dominant inning of relief, striking out three to complete the shutout.

At the plate, Holland led the way with two hits and two RBIs, while Lorber added two RBIs of his own. The Eagles also showed patience, drawing six walks and consistently putting pressure on Westwood throughout the game.

Just as important, they avoided the mistakes that had plagued them in recent weeks.

“We started one eighth grader, five freshmen, one sophomore and two juniors,” Walker said. “Our youth and lack of experience has played a part, but it was a breath of fresh air to see us finally play a well-rounded game together.”

For a young team still learning how to finish games, Monday wasn’t just a win.

It was proof of what they’ve been chasing — and what they’re capable of becoming.
