DAWSON — Rivalry matches tend to bring out the best in both sides, and Tuesday’s Region 3-AAA showdown was no exception.
Terrell Academy rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Deerfield-Windsor School 2-1, securing second place in the region standings and building momentum heading into the state playoffs.
The Lady Knights struck first, carrying a 1-0 lead into the break after Lizzie Wright found the back of the net in the opening half.
But the Lady Eagles responded after halftime.
Baylor Moye ignited the comeback with a second-half goal to even the score, and Caroline Joiner delivered the go-ahead strike as Terrell Academy seized control late in the match.
The win capped a strong region run for the Lady Eagles and positioned them well as the postseason approaches.
Both teams will now turn their attention to the state playoffs, which are set to begin May 15, with Tuesday’s result serving as a reminder that the rivalry — and the season — is far from over.
