Georgia Southwestern soccer hires Ryan Seidon

AMERICUS, Ga. — Georgia Southwestern State University head men’s soccer coach Bailey Guffin has announced the hiring of Ryan Seidon as assistant men’s soccer coach.

Seidon joins the Hurricanes after spending the past two seasons as a graduate assistant and goalkeeper coach at Sul Ross State University, where he helped guide one of the program’s most successful stretches while developing several of the top goalkeepers in the Lone Star Conference.

At Georgia Southwestern, Seidon will oversee the Hurricanes’ goalkeepers and coordinate set pieces while also assisting with recruiting and serving as the program’s director of operations.

“You can’t mention Sul Ross’s recent success in men’s soccer without talking about Ryan,” Guffin said. “He was a crucial piece in our recruitment and retention of some of our best players that made us so successful. Ryan has an unbelievable work rate for our program and our players. It was a very easy decision to bring him to Americus so we can accomplish even more together.”

During the 2025 season, Seidon helped coach Sul Ross State to 10 shutouts, including eight in Lone Star Conference play, the second-highest conference total in the league. Under his guidance, goalkeeper Ben Aviles became the program’s first Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Year and first Lone Star Conference First Team All-Conference selection. Sul Ross goalkeepers also earned three Lone Star Conference Goalkeeper of the Week honors during the season, with Aviles receiving the award twice and Isaac Poole earning the honor once.

Seidon was recognized for his impact beyond the field as the Sul Ross State Graduate Assistant of the Year for the 2024-25 academic year.

Prior to joining the coaching staff, Seidon enjoyed an accomplished four-year playing career at Sul Ross State from 2019-23. A dependable defender, he established the program record for matches played in a career with 60 appearances and still holds the school record for minutes played in a season with 1,374. He earned All-American Southwest Conference honors in 2022 and 2023 while being named to the American Southwest Conference All-Academic Team each year from 2020-23.

Seidon earned his bachelor’s degree in biology from Sul Ross State in 2024 before completing a Master of Science in kinesiology in 2026.

Preparations are underway for the 2026 season, which begins Aug. 27 as GSW hosts Andrew College in the annual “Under the Lights” season opener at Hurricane Field, followed by a post-match fireworks extravaganza from Southern Sky Fireworks.
