SIAC extends contract for Commissioner Anthony Holloman

ATLANTA — The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Council of Presidents has unanimously approved a contract extension for Commissioner Anthony Holloman, Ed.D., through 2029, reaffirming its confidence in his leadership and vision for the future of the conference.
 
The extension was approved during the Council of Presidents’ 2026 Summer Board Meeting in Atlanta following its annual review of Holloman’s performance. The extension continues his leadership as the conference advances its strategic priorities centered on championship excellence, student-athlete success, programmatic growth and increased national visibility.
 
Under Holloman’s leadership, the SIAC has experienced a period of significant growth and achievement, including unprecedented progress in media and broadcasting, historic NCAA postseason success, expanded national relationships and increased representation within collegiate athletics leadership.
 
Among the conference’s most significant accomplishments has been the formation and growth of the SIAC Network, creating a conference-wide platform to expand the visibility of SIAC athletics, member institutions and student-athletes. The network has strengthened the conference’s ability to distribute content, tell the stories of its institutions, engage fans and create additional opportunities for continued growth.
 
The SIAC also experienced historic competitive success during the 2025 football season, when three conference programs advanced to the NCAA Division II Football Playoffs. The achievement marked an important milestone for the conference and further demonstrated the growing national competitiveness of SIAC football.
 
The conference has also strengthened its national relationships through its ACC Football Officiating Alliance affiliation, making the SIAC the only HBCU conference that is a member of the alliance. The affiliation provides an important platform for officiating development and professional advancement while further connecting the SIAC to the broader landscape of collegiate athletics.
 
Holloman’s leadership has extended to the national level as well. He became the first person from an HBCU to chair the NCAA Men’s Volleyball Committee, providing important representation for HBCU athletics within the NCAA governance structure and further establishing the SIAC as a leader in the continued growth of men’s volleyball.
 
These accomplishments are part of the conference’s broader effort to strengthen the SIAC brand, enhance the student-athlete experience, deepen relationships with sponsors and strategic partners, elevate the fan experience and position the conference for sustainable long-term success.

COUNCIL OF PRESIDENTS ADVANCES ADDITIONAL STRATEGIC INITIATIVES
In addition to extending the commissioner’s contract, the Council of Presidents approved several key initiatives and actions that will help shape the future direction of the conference.
 
Among the most significant actions was the approval to eliminate divisions in all sports, mirroring the football format implemented in 2022. The change is intended to enhance postseason opportunities for student-athletes while increasing competition, excitement and engagement surrounding SIAC championships.
 
Looking toward future sport sponsorship opportunities, the Council also authorized the conference office to add women’s flag football as a varsity sport beginning with the 2026-27 academic year, expanding participation opportunities and supporting the conference’s continued commitment to the growth of women’s athletics.
 
Collectively, these actions build upon the conference’s recent momentum and position the SIAC for continued growth and long-term sustainability.
