ALBANY – Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital has recognized RN Florentina Dobrea as a DAISY Award recipient, a national recognition honoring nurses who demonstrate extraordinary clinical skill, compassionate care, and an unwavering commitment to their patients and colleagues.

Dobrea was nominated by a co-worker who described her as the embodiment of everything an extraordinary nurse should be. Known for her compassion, clinical excellence, and dedication to both patients and teammates, Dobrea consistently goes above and beyond to ensure those in her care feel safe, respected and valued.

Throughout every shift, Dobrea demonstrates a remarkable ability to balance exceptional clinical care with genuine human connection, her nomination letter said. Her nominator highlighted numerous examples of her selfless dedication, from stepping in during chaotic situations to assist with difficult patients to spending extra time comforting anxious family members during some of their most vulnerable moments.

One example that stood out involved a patient with multiple complex medical conditions who was experiencing significant anxiety about their hospitalization. From the moment Dobrea assumed responsibility for the patient’s care, she recognized that their needs extended beyond medical treatment alone.

She took time to explain every aspect of the patient’s care plan, answered questions with patience and understanding, and provided reassurance throughout the hospitalization. Her calm demeanor and compassionate approach helped ease the patient’s fears while building trust and confidence during a stressful time.
