ALBANY — The Dougherty County Police Department is searching for someone in connection to an accident that took place on the 100 block of Lovers Lane Road on Sunday morning.
DCPD Capt. Kenneth Johnson said the accident happened on Lovers Lane Road at around 8:15 a.m. Sunday near the intersection of Dale Drive. Initial reports indicated the vehicle was traveling west on Lovers Lane when it left the roadway and struck a fire hydrant and a utility pole before the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
The impact resulted in a fire prior to the driver, Jeffrey Ranew, 34, of Leesburg fleeing and leaving his wife’s 2003 Ford Expedition at the scene, Johnson said.
Ranew’s identity was confirmed through his wife, Johnson said.
Warrants have been taken out on Ranew for failure to maintain lane and violation of duty to stop or return to the scene of an accident. Leads were being followed Monday to determine Ranew’s whereabouts, Johnson said.
