MOULTRIE — A Colquitt County teen is dead and another is facing criminal charges following an all-terrain vehicle accident late Tuesday.
Georgia State Patrol officials say around 8 p.m. Janna Kate Tucker, 19, and her boyfriend Gatlynn Michael Peacock, both of Moutrie, were traveling on a Polaris Ranger ATV along a private dirt road off China Grove Church Road near Moultrie when Peacock, the driver of the vehicle, lost control on a curve.
According to the GSP, Peacock later told deputies of the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office that both he and Tucker were then ejected from the vehicle when it struck an embankment at an estimated 50 miles per hour. Tucker sustained fatal injures when the ATV rolled on top of her, the report states.
Following the incident, Peacock declined to submit to a basic blood alcohol test, a sheriff’s deputy said, and a court order was obtained to require complete testing.
Officials say Peacock is charged with reckless driving and homicide by vehicle in the first degree, with DUI charges pending results of blood alcohol testing.
