CARTER SCHEDULE
Former President Jimmy Carter is scheduled to teach Sunday school this Sunday at Maranatha Baptist Church in his hometown of Plains. The church building opens at 8:30 a.m. with an orientation period at 9 a.m. Carter’s class begins at 10 a.m. Church officials say visitors to the class should arrive before 9 a.m. to ensure seating and to hear all instructions during the orientation.
REVIVAL
Second Chance Apostolic Worldwide Ministries, 616 College St., Sumner is conducting its first countywide restoration, non-denominational revival services at 7 p.m. Tuesday through April 24. Evangelist for the week of nightly services will be Bishop Tremaine O. Alford Sr. of Sylvester, local gospel artist of “God’s a Battle Axe.”
DEDICATION SERVICE
Holy Temple Albany Ministries will dedicate its new worship facility at 7:30 p.m. today and 2 p.m. Saturday at 1616 Radium Spring Road in Albany. Speaker at the special events will be Apostle L. Spence Thomas Sr. of Laurel, Miss.
SPECIAL EVENT
Words of Restoration International Ministries will conduct Community Day 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at 507 S. Monroe St. in Albany. The event includes food, children’s games and activities. Community advocates will attend. The event is free to the public.
NEW BOOK
A former Albany minister is releasing a new book. Bill Parker, pastor of Thirteenth Street Baptist Church in Ashland, Ky., has released “What is Salvation? A Biblical Study of God’s Greatest Gift.”
Parker, who was pastor at Eager Avenue Grace Church in Albany 1985-2003, said the book is based on his 30 years of Bible study. “This book gets to the very basic question — ‘Am I, are you, truly saved at all?’” he said. “It forces us not simply to live what we think is a ‘Christian’ life, but to examine ourselves. The 101-page softcover book is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Lulu Publishing.
