Albany police investigate Family Dollar robbery

ALBANY — Police are investigating an armed robbery of a Family Dollar store in south Albany on Monday.
Witnesses told officers that around 7:30 p.m. a masked black male entered the store at 1030 W. Gordon Ave, with a silver-colored handgun, and ran behind the counter demanding money.
According to Phyllis Banks, spokeswoman for the Albany Police Department, the cashier gave the bandit a bag of money from the register and the suspect fled the scene headed south. Witnesses said the robber wore a gray t-shirt and blue jean shorts.
