NCAA drops hammer on Penn State, Paterno, but decline to give Nittany Lions ‘death penalty’
Penn State was assessed a $60 million fine, a four-year bowl ban and a loss of scholarships Monday when the NCAA handed down its penalties, while former coach Joe Paterno had 14 years of wins erased. The latter penalty moved Paterno from the top of the record books as the all-time FBS wins leader with 409 victories down to 12th on the list.
