SOWEGA Headlines: Former Crisp Academy standout killed in ATV accident

MACON, Ga.: A former athlete at Crisp Academy died Saturday while being treated for an injury received while riding an ATV, authorities say.

The Cordele Dispatch reports that family and coaches of James Bodrey confirmed throughout the day that the 2011 graduate of Crisp Academy was critically injured when he apparently fell from an all-terrain vehicle. He had been taken to a Macon-area hospital where he later died.

The paper reports that the accident happened near Dublin in Laurens County where Bodrey, and others reportedly had planned to take part in a deer hunting trip.

Bodrey was a student at Darton College.

Decatur Board of Education lobbies against Charter School Amendment

BAINBRIDGE, Ga.: The Decatur County School Board has issued a public statement explaining why they will not back a proposed amendment to the Georgia Constitution that is on the November 6 ballot.

The Bainbridge Post Searchlight reports that the school board issued the statement following last week’s meeting, citing various reasons why they the public should vote down the Charter Schools amendment.
